Brazilian pig iron export prices stable amid fresh deals

Issued at 2017-08-06

Export prices for Brazilian pig iron were unchanged this week amid renewed trading activity, but producers will be seeking price increases in their next deals.

"Prices will continue to increase due to the global uptrend in steel and steelmaking raw materials values," a Brazil-based market participant said. Three 30,000-tonne cargoes of Minas Gerais-origin pig iron were reportedly sold at $330 per tonne fob, with shipments expected in late September and early October, according to Brazilian sources.
